An additional metric added to a sidebar widget appears to be imposing unusual strain on the SQL servers when large threads appear in the widget. We've disabled affected widgets for now and are working on a permanent solution.

Update
We're seeing unusual memory usage patterns and SQL performance. We're unable to reproduce these issues in a staging environment, which makes debugging difficult. We're continuing to troubleshoot.
